As a storyteller, Jacob Lawrence often used a series of images to create a visual narrative. His series were originally created as paintings, but several series, or selected images from series, were also issued as limited edition print series. Those wishing to obtain print series for exhibition, or individual prints, may contact DC Moore Gallery in New York, which is the repository for the work of both Jacob Lawrence and Gwen Knight, his wife. The gallery holds complete sets of prints for the following series:

The Life of Toussaint L'Ouverture (1938)
The Life of John Brown (1941)
The Hiroshima Series (1983)
Eight Studies for the Book of Genesis (1989)

Paintings and drawings may also be available from the Gallery on a case-by-case basis.
